For the
month of November 2006, Corvette Cleveland had the distinction
of providing the "Club Display" for the front entrance
turntable display at the National Corvette Museum (NCM), in
Bowling Green, Ky.
Corvette
Cleveland was established in 1957. It is one of the oldest
Corvette clubs in existence today.
Corvette Cleveland was one of the founding clubs of the National
Council of Corvette Clubs (N.C.C.C.).
Club member's show, rally, and autocross with their Corvettes.
Currently, Corvette Cleveland has 114 members, including members
who own no less than FOUR Indy 500 Pace Car replicas (a 1978,
1986, and two 1995's) !
In 2005,
Corvette Cleveland finished 5th in the nation in N.C.C.C.
competition standings.
In 2006, Corvette Cleveland became a Club Member of the NCM.
In 2007, Corvette Cleveland will be celebrating it's 50th
Anniversary.
One of
the 2007 scheduled anniversary events is a Club visit to the
NCM as part of it's 50th celebration. The Owl pictured in
the photo (Hootie) is the Corvette Cleveland Mascot, and has
traveled with the club to the Museum, the Corvette Assembly
Plant, and N.C.C.C. East Ohio Region competition and social
events, including a Niagara Falls Casino trip.
The car
exhibited was selected by a raffle drawing held for club members
to raise funds for the clubs purchase of a Club brick at the
NCM celebrating their 50th anniversary celebration during
2007, and is owned by Bob Kirsch, member and current Webmaster
of the Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Registry. The car was on
exhibit from November 1st, thru November 30th, 2006.
