VIP Wil Cooksey to Pace 200 Corvettes on Historic Route
66 Tour June 5-7
FLAGSTAFF,
Arizona. Bloomington Gold Tours based in Flagstaff,
Arizona announced today that recently retired GM Corvette
Plant Manager, Wil Cooksey is set to lead 200 of Americas
greatest sports cars down Americas most favorite
highway, Route 66. This 100 mile trip back in time will
attract Corvette owners from across the country and
retrace the Mother Road along the longest stretch left
in America. The tour which begins in Kingman, AZ will
head east through the historic towns of Hackberry, Valentine,
Truxton, Peach Springs and Seligman, home of Angel Delgadillo
and the famous Snow Cap Drive-In. At tours end,
participants will display their Corvettes on Route 66
in downtown Williams, AZ, the last town on Route 66
to be bypassed.
Besides
leading the Route 66 Tour, Cooksey will be the featured
VIP for the 3-day Bloomington Gold Tours event slated
for June 5-7. Participants will have a chance to rub
shoulders with Wil Cooksey and enjoy a guest speaker
presentation at the finale reception from the future
chairman of the board of the National Corvette Museum
located in Bowling Green, KY. We are thrilled
to have Wil join us in 2008, said event owner
& coordinator Cindy Bublitz. Wil has had a
big hand in making the Corvette the world class super
car it is today, said Dwayne Bublitz, Cindys
husband whos also an event owner and coordinator.
Wil
Cooksey has had a long and distinguished career with
General Motors culminating with 15 years of service
as the Corvette plant manager in Bowling Green, KY.
In 2008 Chevrolet is paying tribute to Cooksey by releasing
a Wil Cooksey Limited Edition Z06 Corvette. Each of
the 505 editions is signed and numbered and come with
a certificate of authenticity.
